Cardiff Airport has joined The Sunflower Lanyard Scheme, a widely recognised initiative that represents an awareness and commitment to supporting the individual needs of customers with hidden disabilities.
The Sunflower Lanyard Scheme gives customers the option to request additional support or special assistance with their terminal experience. A specially designed lanyard, discreet pin badge or children’s wristband will identify to our highly trained team that the customer may require additional assistance or time when navigating through the Airport. Individual cards have also been created to identify specific hidden conditions that can be carried or attached to the lanyard, giving customers the choice to disclose their hidden disability should they wish.
The Sunflower Lanyard scheme products can be requested, free of charge, in advance by contacting the Special Assistance desk at the Airport, or picked up on the day of travel. Please call 01446 729329 or email us at PRMDesk@cwl.aero.
Cardiff Airport also offers familiarisation tours, where customers can pre-arrange a convenient time or date before they are due to travel, to visit the Airport, talk to the team and experience both the outbound and inbound journey to familiarise themselves of the Airport surroundings before their journey. This can also be arranged by contacting the special assistance team.
Deb Bowen Rees, CEO at Cardiff Airport said, “We are delighted to take part in what is fast becoming a globally recognised scheme. Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to providing an enjoyable experience for all. The team has received some excellent training on The Sunflower Lanyard Scheme and we will continue to work with different organisations to understand hidden disabilities and recognise the ways in which we can offer assistance for individuals who require extra support as they fly to and from the national airport for Wales.
