Thomson Cruises has announced direct charter flights from Cardiff Airport to Dubai for January and February 2017 as it operates out of the port of Dubai for the first time.
Thomson has chosen Cardiff as one of six specially selected regional Airports in the UK to serve new direct flights to Dubai. The flights follow the popularity of Caribbean charter flights which operate from Cardiff and always prove very popular with customers.
Flights are on sale from November 2015, serving customers in Wales and the South West of England. These special flights will fly Thomson Cruises customers to meet its Celebration cruise ship - operating from the vibrant port next winter.
Debra Barber, Managing Director at Cardiff Airport, said: “It is fantastic to see yet another new, direct long-haul cruise route operating from Cardiff. Dubai is a hugely exciting destination and I’m sure these new itineraries will prove popular with cruise customers when flights go on sale.
“Thomson cruise flights to Barbados and Jamaica are scheduled for this winter and sales are looking good, so we’re delighted to have cruise flights to the Middle East already planned for 2017, which will attract not only customers in Wales but the South West too.”
The two seven night itineraries – ‘Arabian Nights’ and ‘Cities of Gold’ – will stop overnight in Dubai and visit six new destinations including Khasab and Muscat in Oman, Manama in Bahrain, Doha in Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Khor Fakkan in UAE.
Excursion highlights include the spectacular sites of the Burj al Arab and Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and the Grand Mosque in Muscat. If the outdoors holds an exotic appeal, customers can explore the magnificent Musafi Mountains in Khor Fakkan and dine on the glamorous Dubai Dhow cruise. Customers exploring Abu Dhabi will be able to grab a taste of the action at Ferrari World, as well as taking in the dazzling Emirates Palace and test their adventurous side with desert safaris.
Managing Director for Thomson Cruises, Helen Caron said:
“At Thomson Cruises we know that destinations are one of the key deciding factors for our customers and our decision to set sail from Dubai will allow holiday-makers to see and experience more destinations than ever before. As Dubai becomes more and more popular for winter sun and incredible excursions, we know our customers will be as excited as we are to welcome this destination to our programme. With the average Brit visiting more than 14 foreign countries in their lifetime*, we can’t wait for everyone to discover Arabia, from the glamour and opulence of Dubai and Abu Dhabi to the ancient heritage sites in Oman.”
Flights will depart Cardiff Airport on 23rd January and 20th February 2017.
