To support our aspirations we are preparing our Masterplan. The Masterplan sets out our ambitious plans for growth over the next 20 years as a key gateway to the UK.
We have an important role both as an international gateway and as a major driver within the Welsh Economy, supporting 1,900 aviation-related jobs at the Airport and 2,675 jobs both directly and indirectly.The overall Gross Value Added impact to the local economy is £163 million and 30% of our passengers are visitors to Wales.
Continuing on our journey of transformation, passenger numbers have grown 7% in the last year, with more than 1.6 million passengers now choosing to fly from Cardiff annually.

In terms of our potential market, the core catchment area within Wales stands at 2.4 million people with a secondary catchment area within the South West of England of a further 4 million people.
We benefit from being located within the Cardiff Airport and St. Athan Enterprise Zone, which offers unrivalled opportunities for investment in the site and surrounding areas. The associated Enterprise Zone offers a wider range of development sites and business accommodation, providing opportunities for the development of bespoke facilities or investment in existing accommodation.
Our facilities, which includes an operation and runway that’s active 24/7 enables us to accommodate many aviation and aerospace companies and related services, including British Airways Maintenance Cardiff (BAMC), Cardiff Aviation Training Centre and International Centre for Aerospace Training (ICAT) at Cardiff and Vale College.
