Sydney

Fly from Cardiff to Sydney with a one stop connection

As the largest metropolitan city in Australia, Sydney’s iconic landmarks, harbour side location and bustling economy make it Australia’s crown jewel. An incredibly vibrant and diverse urban destination, the city has a lot to offer, making the journey from the UK more than worthwhile.

Visitors can kick back at a beautiful beach, treat themselves to world-class food or fill their vacation with activities. Whatever the focus of the holiday, Australia’s most populated city will not disappoint.

Sydney’s spectacular beaches, which line the city’s bays and harbours, are one of the flagship attractions for tourists from around the world. The gorgeous Bondi Beach, for instance, offers beautiful waves for surfers, and the historic Bondi Baths are perfect for those who prefer a spa experience.

The city doesn’t lack green space either – it’s packed full of beautiful parks like Lavender Bay and the National Park, which also features thousand-year-old aboriginal art.

Sydney has a rich heritage stretching back to the life of indigenous Australians. History lovers can experience the city’s centuries of culture by visiting the Sydney Museum or making their way through the Rocks Precinct.

  1. Have a Sydney on the Rocks. Sydney’s Rocks district offers trendy cafes, restaurants and markets intertwined with old warehouses and cobblestone laneways dating back to the 1800’s when it was the hub of the trade industry.
  2. Meet the locals. Encounter some of the amazing animals native to Australia in Taronga Zoo – set a day aside and watch kangaroos, koalas and Tasmanian Devils interact with thousands of other animals as part of the zoo’s conservation mission.
  3. Savour the quiet in the midst of the urban storm. Situated between the harbour and the city’s central district, the Royal Botanic Gardens are a must-visit. Wander amidst one of the world’s most beautiful gardens and experience 30 hectares of native Australian plants.
  4. Harbour the best attractions. Sydney Harbour, one of the most beautiful harbours in the world, is the site of some of Sydney’s most iconic sights. For example, the famous white sails of the Sydney Opera House, an architectural marvel which boasts a UNESCO World Heritage list status and is a must for all visitors, and the Harbour Bridge, also worth a climb if you like heights, are located there.
  5. Look up! Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display is an event everyone must experience at least once in their lifetime. There are a variety of events and vantage points to enjoy the New Year fireworks from, including a choice of cruises combining the great view with drinks, dinner and entertainment fitting for the occasion.
