Oslo

The Norwegian capital is a city of beautiful, modern architecture, happy residents and stunning surrounds.  Situated between the mountains and the sea, Oslo is a fun, cultured and lively city enjoyed by city and nature lovers alike. The city is home to a thriving art scene, where visitors can not only marvel at the work of famous artists such as Edvard Munch, but can also become immersed in the many commercial contemporary art galleries, or simply marvel at the unique architecture. Oslo is also one of the greenest cities with its sustainable way of life and commitment to green space- there’s plenty of parks to chill out in, waterways to take a boat on and access to the surrounding natural sites is really easy. Whether you’re into music, art or just want to spend a weekend in a truly unique city with a wilder edge then Oslo will not disappoint!

  1. Have a wild night! Oslo is very quickly becoming Scandinavia’s top late night party spot, where you can catch a whole host of local yet world-famous DJs spinning disco records in a cool café, or an indie band gigging in a backstreet bar. Oslo is a city that knows how to have a good time!
  2. Explore its eateries- Oslo is more than just hot dogs these days, with a foodie scene that is defined by café culture, Neo-Nordic ‘fusion’ menus (Icelandic-Korean is a popular favourite!) and of course its hot-dogs which are a tasty and delicious option if you’re on a budget.
  3. Soak up the culture- Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen are the city’s most famous artists featuring in the many museums. But be sure to check out the contemporary cultural life and art scene too: its architecture and cool galleries provide a good dose of creativity for any traveller. For contemporary art, the Astrup Fearnley Museet is a must-visit.
  4. Enjoy its natural side- Oslo is an urban metropolis but is also one of the world’s greenest cities- with a large selection of parks to spend the day relaxing in or cycling round. The Oslofjord’s waterways and islands are minutes away, and the city is surrounded by forests and ski slopes.
  5. Have a cuppa- Oslo is a city of coffee connoisseurs. Enjoying a coffee is a part of the lifestyle here, and there are several cracking spots for a cuppa, usually made by passionate baristas using locally roasted beans.
