Milan A holiday for all the senses

Direct flights from Cardiff to Milan

Italy is a country of cultural extravagance as it mesmerises travellers each year with its fine art, architecture and museums.

Milan is no exception as it manages to thrill everyone, from fashionistas to football fans. This intense metropolis welcomes visitors to explore its attractions, so that they will soon experience the city’s real beauty and power. Elegant shopping centres, unforgettable cathedrals, influential art collections and a different coffee shop to visit every hour. Milan has it all, and isn’t afraid to show it.

For those not sure where to begin with this Italian treasure, then just spend a day wandering its streets. Milan is the perfect place to explore because there are new delights to discover around every corner.

  1. Enjoy the view. You can’t visit Milan without seeing its famous cathedral, the Duomo di Milano. This is definitely worth visiting as, alongside its specular interior, you can climb up to the roof and see an unrivalled view of the city.
  2. Jump on a tram. If you are interested in an alternative way of viewing the city then hop on a vintage tram, where you can even enjoy some dinner and wine as you travel around.
  3. Shop till you drop. Milan is a stylish city so you should definitely leave some time to explore the shops. Alongside the designer boutiques you will also find gorgeous shopping centres such as the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
  4. Score a goal. If you prefer football to fashion, then Milan has the San Siro Stadium which is home to teams including AC Milan. You can even take a tour of the stadium if it isn’t a match day.
  5. Taste Italian ice cream. Spending your days exploring this exciting city can be tiring, so don’t forget to treat yourself with some Italian ice cream. It’ll be a taste you won’t forget in a hurry!

In August it is very quiet because the temperature rises and the majority of Italians go on holiday.

Get some good food (and wine) and have a picnic in Parco Sempione on a sunny day- it’s lovely!

The shopping in Milan is exceptional and it is definitely worth wandering through the streets to find boutiques like Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana- even if it’s just to window shop!

Don't forget to see the portrait of the former resident of Craig y Nos castle Madame Adelina Patti at the Teatro alla Scala whilst in Milan.
