Take a siesta. Menorca is incredibly laid-back so bear in mind that it is popular to take a break between 1pm and 5pm. This means that the majority of shops will close during this time.
Shop in the markets. There are some fabulous markets in Mahon, making it a great destination for shopping. Look out for the outdoor market on the main square in Placa Esplanada, as this has a variety of souvenirs, jewellery and clothes for you to browse.
Go the Museum. If you would like to learn more about Menorca and its heritage, head to Mesu de Menorca, which is just past the main harbour and is held in a former monastery.
Taste the sea. The island has some delicious seafood in many of the restaurants so it is definitely worth venturing away from your hotel to try the local cuisine.
Have a British tipple. This is another reference to the British occupation in the 18th century as Gin is actually distilled in Mahon, making it a popular drink on the island. Have some with your dinner and savour the taste of Menorca!

I would on reflection spend more time in Mahon as it is good for shopping too, it has a huge market on Tuesdays during the summer season with lots of leather goods at rock bottom prices and great places to eat and drink!
