Mahon is Menorca’s capital city and although small, manages to please tourists each year with its culture and history. In the early 1700s, Menorca was occupied by the British and this influence can still be clearly seen in the streets of Mahon. In Mahon, visitors will see traditional Spanish style merged with 18th century British architecture, a unique hybrid that adds charisma to the city.
This destination is also home to the biggest natural port in the Mediterranean, and the harbour is a great hub to see the boats, meet the locals and soak up the atmosphere. Once visitors have discovered Mahon, a short drive further into Menorca will reveal beautiful beaches and glistening waters, meaning Mahon is a great base to enjoy a city and beach break.
Mahon has it all, making it the ideal destination for families and couples seeking a Spanish retreat.

I would on reflection spend more time in Mahon as it is good for shopping too, it has a huge market on Tuesdays during the summer season with lots of leather goods at rock bottom prices and great places to eat and drink!
By Jack MarshWe did the half day Boat trip around Mahon Harbour, which included a visit to a Gin Distillery and a few hours in Mahon town, which was really nice.
By Karen MarshThere are many pretty beaches and harbours dotted around the island that would be accessible if you had the advantage of a car at your disposal to get around.
