Fly from Cardiff to Cologne and Bonn with a one stop connection

Cologne and Bonn are two culturally rich cities that captivate tourists all year round. Cologne, which is Germany’s fourth largest city, plays host to an array of historical attractions including an unmissable cathedral, ancient Roman walls and post-war buildings. Cologne is also famous for its museums, particularly for those concerning art, as visitors become lost in the worlds of Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso. If the art isn’t to your taste, Cologne boasts a chocolate museum to sweeten up its visitors.

Speaking of museums, Bonn also excels in this area. Once the capital of Germany, Bonn is easily accessible by train from Cologne and offers even more culture. Here visitors can explore ‘Museum Mile’ and see the old government quarter, whilst enjoying the pretty banks of the Rhine. Bonn is also the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven, so it comes as no surprise that it hits all the right notes.

Whether visitors choose to visit Cologne, Bonn or both, they will find it hard to say auf wiedersehen.

Use public transport. In Cologne the public transport is excellent so you can travel around the city easily. Take your pick of trams, trains and buses!
Visit the museums. Cologne has a museum for every interest and invites you to explore them all. Invest in a MuseumsCard if you plan on visiting more than one.
See the fortress. If you are visiting Bonn and want to see what is outside of the city, travel to the suburb of Bad Godesberg where you will find the ruins of a 13^th century castle called Godesburg Fortress.
Take a picture of the cathedral. If you do one thing in Cologne, remember to visit its famous cathedral as this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the world’s tallest building and is Germany’s most-visited monument.
Go to the zoo. Cologne really does have everything and more, as it also has a zoo! This is popular with families and is a great day out with over 7,000 animals on site.

Pay a visit to Kölner Dom (the cathedral) and immerse yourself in the gothic architecture. Then have lunch at the Funkhouse Cafe beside Kölner Dom.
