Fly from Cardiff to Brussels with a one stop connection

As the capital of Belgium and the home of the European Union, some might be forgiven for thinking that Brussels is purely for politics. However, this destination is so much more, from mesmerising architecture to alluring art galleries, Brussels is historical and trendy.

The locals are friendly and welcome visitors to have a taste of their life, as they truly love their city. Take some time and watch as they spill out of the many bars and restaurants, enjoying the fine food and home grown wheat beer throughout the evenings. In Brussels, it will be hard to resist the charming atmosphere that vibrates through the streets.

Brussels is also easy to explore, as its compact nature means that all its delights are accessible. Also, once travellers have had a taste of Brussels, the city offers a variety of day trips to Belgium’s other attractions. Don’t forget to buy a bag of Belgian chocolates to make the experience even sweeter.

Go to Waterloo. If you have time to travel outside of Brussels, definitely go to the Battlefield of Waterloo as this is one of Belgium’s most visited attractions and there are organised day trips from Brussels.
Experience surrealism. The Magritte Museum is worth visiting for those that would like to see the work of René Magritte, a famous surrealist artist from Belgium. This attraction is also next to other popular museums, so is a great place to spend an afternoon soaking up some culture.
Get arty. The Sablon district is full of beautiful art boutiques and galleries, making it the perfect place to spend a couple of hours. There are also lots of restaurants and bars nearby for you to grab a bite to eat.
Meet Tintin. For a family friendly activity visit the Tintin Boutique and discover Belgium’s famous comic strip. The shop is near the Grand Place so you can also explore the central square of Brussels after you have picked up a souvenir.
Pick up a Brussels Card. The city has good public transport links and by purchasing a Brussels Card it means that you can use the hop-on hop-off buses, and it includes a museum pass too.
