Welsh Wizards whip up donations at airport

The Welsh Wizards Skittle Team has raised over £1000 for Cancer Research UK through bucket collections at Cardiff Airport this month.
A team of six per day collected donations from Welsh passengers in the check in hall, with one member dressed up as Donald Duck to catch the holidaymakers’ attention and raise a few smiles before jetting off.
Sarah Aston from the fundraising group commented: “We collected an amazing amount of £1041.75 at the airport, and would like to thank the passengers for their generosity and donations to this worthy cause.”
Marion Williams from Cardiff Airport’s charity committee added: “The individuals involved worked tirelessly to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, and we congratulate them on their tremendous efforts. The team was in the terminal at highly unsociable hours targeting passengers on early morning flights, and their commitment and enthusiasm was astonishing.
We wish them all the best with their future fundraising events, and look forward to welcoming them back to the airport with their buckets soon.”
In May 2011 The Welsh Wizards Skittle Team presented a cheque for £4213.92 to Cancer Research UK. Since then they have been organising boot sales, pub crawls, hobby horse racing and bucket collections at various locations. The next event will be a concert at Cadoxton Conservative Club featuring various signers and artists. For further information and to buy tickets e-mail sarahaston2@ntlworld.com.
